What are our office hours?
We are open Monday to Friday from 9.00 - 17.00. Our telephone number is +44 (0)1604 770 759. Messages can be left on our answer-phone outside these times.
How do we protect your personal details?
Your personal details are kept strictly confidential and are not shared by Private Reserves or Goedhuis & Co with any third party.
Is storage important when I come to sell my wine?
Auction houses and wine merchants will ask where and how the wine has been stored before agreeing to handle the sale. Storing at Octavian ensures that you will get the optimum price for your wine.
Where should I tell my wine merchant to send my wine?
Please do not send your wine to Grange Farmhouse. Please instruct all deliveries to be made to the following address:
Your name, Your account number,
c/o Private Reserves Limited Account 075,
Cert Octavian,
Eastlays Warehouse,
Gastard,
Corsham,
Wiltshire,
SN13 9PP
How much does it cost to store my wine?
Rent
12 bottle case per annum £9.50 +VAT
6 bottle case per annum £4.75 +VAT
In addition there is an initial one off charge on all cases arriving into Private Reserves that are not bought from Goedhuis & Company.
1 case £5.00 +VAT
2-4 cases of the same wine £3.50 +VAT
5+ cases of the same wine £1.50 +VAT
My storage rate is not £9.50 +VAT. Why?
Charges are calculated pro-rata over the number of months remaining in our financial year, which runs from 1st April to 31st March.
Additionally, for 6-bottle cases the rate is halved.
My wine has been delivered to Cert Octavian but why does it not show on my reserves?
There can be up to a 3-week lead time for wine to be listed on your reserves. When wine arrives during the busiest times of the year, the receipt and handling process can be prolonged.
Why doesn’t my wine have a valuation?
The valuations are provided by Liv-ex and are updated every three months. Notwithstanding its huge database there are Burgundies, Rhones and lesser Clarets that they are unable to value as there is no secondary market in these wines. Furthermore vintages that are still in barrel or haven't been shipped are not valued.
Why doesn’t my wine have a tasting note?
We include tasting notes for a number of respected wine journalists. Unfortunately there will be wines that none of these experts, nor the team at Goedhuis & Co, have tasted.
Is my wine insured?
Wine stored by Private Reserves is covered by Cert Octavian’s All Risks Policy. Where a case of wine is damaged or lost, it will be replaced. Where replacement is not possible you will receive full market value for the wine.
How much does it cost to have my wine delivered?
Charges vary depending on the post code and the number of cases. Please contact us for a quote.
How long does it take for me to have my wine delivered?
5 working-days are required for deliveries. We can only deliver Monday to Friday during office hours. For delivery to the Highlands and Islands we require up to ten days.
Why can’t I order one or two bottles from a case in my reserves?
There are additional charges involved in picking bottles from cases. Please call us if you would like to discuss having particular bottles delivered.
What happens upon instruction of delivery?
On receipt of written instructions, we will arrange for the delivery of your wine. Where wine is held in bond duty and VAT are payable in advance.
